April 29, 2026

GEANEY (Ballintemple, Cork): On April 29th 2026, peacefully, at home after a long illness bravely borne in the presence of his family, CECIL (formerly of Bank of Ireland), dearly beloved husband of Siobhan, much loved father of Eavan, Zita and the late Orla, dear brother of Alan, Audrey and the late Raymond, adored grandad of David, Andrew, Robert, Ailbhe, Cillian and Éabha.

Sadly missed by his loving wife and family, sons-in-law Tony and Roberto, brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at his home in Ballintemple (Eircode T12 E3P8) on Friday (May 1st) from 3.00pm to 5.00pm.

COUNIHAN (Ballinlough and Blackrock, Cork): On April 27th , 2026, peacefully in the tender loving care of all the staff at Marymount Hospice, surrounded by his loving family, DONAL (Former Lord Mayor of Cork and Councillor at Cork City Council and late of UCC, Blackrock Hurling Club and Ballinlough Community Centre), dearly loved husband of Breda, devoted dad to Niamh, Gillian and Kieran, cherished brother of Marie and Sr. Bride.

Sadly missed by his loving wife, children, adored grandchildren, Mark, Luke, Matthew, Grace and Ava, brother-in-law Paddy Goulding, sons-in-law Noel Sutton and Kevin Wilson, daughter-in-law Jackie, niece, nephews, relatives and a wide circle of friends.

McCARTHY (Woodvale Road, Beaumont, Cork): On April 25th 2026, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at Cork University Hospital, MARGARET (née McGann), beloved wife of the late Patsy, loving mother of Bernard, Stephen and the late Peter, dear sister of the late Mary, Jim, Betty, Sydney and William.

Sadly missed by her loving family, daughters-in-law Deirdre, Sandra and Karen, her adored grandchildren Donna, Eva, Ciara, Andrea, Katie and Oscar, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Murphy Una, (13th April 2026) late of Clondalkin, Dublin 22, former Matron of the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street, former Matron of the Irish Franciscan Pilgrimage to Lourdes and former member of the Secular Franciscan Order, (peacefully) in the wonderful care of the staff at Our Lady’s Hospice, Harold’s Cross, surrounded by her loving family.

Una will be deeply missed by her nephew Pat and niece Anne, Pat’s wife Kathryn, Anne’s husband John, grandnieces and grandnephews Jack, Doireann, Eva, Sean and Orla, friends, neighbours, former colleagues and all those who cared for her.

May her gentle soul rest in peace
