Remembering – As we move into the month of November, we will lovingly remember our loved ones who have died. 107 funeral Masses have been celebrated across St. Michael’s and Holy Cross Churches since this time last year. 70 funeral Masses have been celebrated in St. Michael’s and 37 in Holy Cross Church since the start of November last year. These details give us a sense of the strength of both parishes to prayerfully support one another at the most difficult of times. At each of these Masses, there is a deep sense of the consoling presence of God and trust in the ultimate power of the Risen Jesus who ‘defeats death forever’. This sense runs very deep and is much more than just sharing our sympathies. It’s our prayer to accompany those who have died into the eternal presence of God and back into arms of their own deceased family members and loved ones. So, when we gather during this coming week for the Remembrance Mass, we will be praying, consoling and strengthening the heartbroken. While this is a sad time, it’s also a beautiful time and that is how we approach November, in hope and new life. May all those who have died now rest in the peace of the Lord and may we remember them lovingly. May they rest in peace. – Fr. Michael
