Remembrance Mass – we celebrated a poignant and uplifting Mass last Monday evening. The church was completely full for this special gathering. Families attended in great numbers across different generations. It’s inspiring to see different age groups together in the church supporting one another and simply being together. Prayer comes more easily to all of us when we lovingly remember our loved ones who have died. In a world where we can be overwhelmed with the speed of events and communication, it’s reassuring to see that we take all the time in the world to remember our loved ones. The power of the Mass is that those who have died are very close to us and truly part of the celebration. This is why we are moved to arrange anniversary and Month’s Mind Masses that also gather families together. Most certainly, many families will also gather in St. Michael’s Cemetery this Sunday afternoon to stand near the graves of their loved ones and patiently wait for blessings and prayer. While many things have changed in the faith landscape of Ireland, our remembrance of the dead remains strong and we thank God for that this weekend. May all those who have died, now rest in the peace of the Lord. – Fr. Michael
