St. Michael's Parish
Parish Sacramental Preparation – This weekend we welcome all the First Holy Communion children and their families as they commence the parish element of their preparation for the Sacraments of First Confession in March and their First Holy Communion in April/May next year. The ‘Do This in Memory’ parish programme works alongside the school-based ‘Grow in Love’ programme and family support. This has gone very well in recent years. Children and families feel welcome and at home here in the church and parish. Parents and grandparents often remark on the importance of this experience and welcome. The First Communion celebrations then become a very natural gathering where everyone feels comfortable. That also makes the ceremonies much more prayerful as the year unfolds. As a parish community, we pray for the children and their families. Parents in particular need our prayerful support as they navigate a very complex and challenging parenting world with enormous responsibilities. May the Lord bless the children, their parents, their schools and our parish for the year ahead. St. Michael, pray for us. – Fr. Michael
