THE MONTH OF MAY ~ 3rd May 2026

Published on May 1, 2026

The Month of May – we have just commenced the special month of May.  First off, we welcome Kammerchor der Hoschschule fur Musik und Theater from Hamburg to 11am Sunday Mass this weekend.  The Cork Choral Festival concludes this weekend and we always appreciate the presence of international choirs in our parish on the first weekend of May.  Then the Holy Communions will be celebrated over the four Saturdays of May both in St. Michael’s and Holy Cross Churches.  These are beautiful celebrations.  It’s a joy to listen to the children pray and sing.  The pride of parents and grandparents in the children is self-evident.  Our parish schools do wonderful work in preparing the children supporting families and our parishes.  May the Lord bless and reward them for this.  These are special days for our parish and Family of Parishes. Finally, during the Month of May, we get to sing ‘The Queen of the May’.  It’s such a beautiful hymn reflecting our devotion to Mary, the Mother of God and her care for us.  So let us look forward to this month with hope and joy.  Fr. Michael

The Mission and Ministry Special Collection will take place on the weekend of 9th & 10th May. This office plays a vital role in supporting our priests,

parishes and Families of Parishes as we work together to help people grow in faith

and live as missionary disciples. It provides formation and support for Parish

Pastoral Councils, Baptism and Funeral Ministry Teams, Ministers of the Word and

Eucharist, Choirs and other ministries, as well as offering resources for prayer,

evangelisation and adult sacramental preparation. Thanks to your generosity, this

work continues to grow and reach more people across our diocese. Thank you for

your continued support and encouragement of this important work.

Trocáire Boxes – please return these to the church so that we can forward them to Trocáire very soon.

Annual Cemetery Mass on Wednesday 24th June @ 7.30pm in St. Michael’s Cemetery.
