PARISH LIFE ~ 6th September 2026

Published on September 4, 2026

Parish Life – Parish groups, choir and music groups are all returning after the summer break. We look forward to the Do This in Memory parish-based programme for the First Holy Communion children and their families and this year, we will have a number of Masses for the Confirmation candidates and their families as well. We continue to support the SMA Parish while it remains closed for some time longer. As a parish, we continue to celebrate baptisms on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. We celebrate weddings regularly in the church. We gather as faith community to support those who have been bereaved at the time of a Requiem Mass in the church. Our parish is alive in so many ways and we look forward to the autumn. – Fr. Michael

Welcome – to the Redemptorist Fathers who will celebrate Masses this weekend to introduce the forthcoming Triduum of Prayer in Holy Cross Church.

Altar Servers – we are blessed with a committed group of altar servers over the last year.  We are  very grateful to their parents and families who support them in this special ministry.  We look forward to expanding the altar server team into the autumn.

Annual Remembrance Mass – for all those who have died from our parish over the last year will be celebrated on Monday 2nd November @ 7pm. They have gone no further than to God and God is very near.

Christian Meditation Group – A group of people from our Family of Parishes continue to meet on each Friday morning at 10.15am in the Parish Centre. After a short introduction there is 20 minutes of silent prayer/meditation concluding with the Our Father. We welcome you to join us. Contact 087 6477841 for details.

Holy Cross Church – Fortieth Anniversary – preparations continue in Mahon Parish to celebrate this landmark very soon.  The Redemptorist Fathers will lead a Triduum of Prayer from Monday 21st – Wednesday 23rd September.  The themes will be Hope, Healing & Community.  Remembrance of those who have been involved and supported the construction and development of the church will also be honoured.  There will be a special Mass on Sunday 20th September @ 12.15pm and all are welcome. – Fr. Michae
