‘Truth, what is that?’ ~ 29th March 2026

Published on March 27, 2026

‘Truth, what is that?’ –  I am always struck by the words of the Passion Reading on Good Friday afternoon when Pilate says ‘truth, what is that’.  These are words for our time and our world.  Increasingly we find it hard to believe what we hear at many levels not to mind the fundamental Christian gift of living by the truth and in the truth.  Every year we hear these words and as the years go on we see the importance of them.  That is just one aspect of the fundamental truth of the drama of Holy Week and Easter.  This year, the world is fearful of war and all its consequences.  People are fearful in their lives and worried about many matters.  The Person of Jesus never brings fear but always hope and trust.  These are the gifts that we need this year.  So let us walk with Jesus through this Holy Week.  We walk into the heart of suffering so that we can overcome fear and live in hope.  Please God, you will be able to join in the Holy Week ceremonies.  May the Lord bless us all.  – Fr. Michael
