Peace to This House

First Friday Visits to the Sick and Housebound – A number of people have been in touch to let us know of a family member who would welcome a visit to receive the Blessed Sacrament in their homes. This is so important for people who came to the church throughout their lives and now can do so no longer. If you know of a neighbour or family member who needs a visit just let us know.

Vising people in their homes with Holy Communion, as I did this past week, is a great privilege.  It is a wonderful consolation to many people and a way of being part of the parish faith community.

Diocesan Meeting – for parish representatives will take place on Sunday 14th September and our parish will be represented as part of our Family of Parishes.

Alpha Programme – will begin in our Family of Parishes in SMA Parish.  We will hear more about that at weekend Masses on 13th & 14th September.

Lourdes Petitions – If you want your prayer petitions to be brought to the Grotto in Lourdes with the Diocesan Pilgrimage beginning on 19th September next, please fill in one of the prayer petition sheets and place it in the box at the top of the church.  These will be forwarded to the Diocesan Pilgrimage to be brought to Lourdes.

Christian Meditation Group – during this Jubilee Year of Hope the Church encourages us to come together and pray.  A group of people from our Family of Parishes has been meeting each Friday morning at 10.15am in the Parish Centre.  After a short introduction there is 20 minutes of silent prayer/meditation concluding with the Our Father.  We welcome you to join us.  Contact 087 6477841 details.

Gougane Sunday – 28th September – during this Jubilee Year of Hope it is possible for people to gain an indulgence through participation – details on church noticeboards.

Annual Remembrance Mass – for all those who have died from our parish over the last year will be celebrated on Monday 3rd November @ 7pm.  They have gone no further than to God and God is very near.

SMA Church in Blackrock Road is currently closed while recent structural damage is being assessed.  Celebration of the baptisms, wedding and funerals from the SMA church will continue to be facilitated here in St. Michael’s.  The SMA Parish weekly newsletter is also available.
